November 6, 2010 marks 15 years since the day of commissioning the 1st Unit of Thac Mo HPP (Vietnam).
The contract for participation in construction of Thac MoHPP with 150 MW installed capacity has become one of the first steps of cooperation between independent Ukraine and Vietnam. The painstaking work of professionals from Ukrinterenergo (Interenergo), having a great desire to introduce the product of Ukrainian manufacturers to the Vietnamese market, preceded the conclusion of the contract. Moreover, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine set the task to form export-oriented orders in foreign markets, including the Vietnamese market, which was of great importance for the companies of energy and power machine-building complexes of Ukraine. This task was fulfilled. The contract was signed in solemn atmosphere. This event was regarded by everybody as landmark for Ukraine.
The scope of works comprised the plant design, field supervision of HPP construction, supply and commissioning of equipment as well as contract supervision.
The design of HPP was performed by OJSC Ukrhydroproekt, while hydromechanical equipment was designed by
OJSC SPKTB Zaporizhhydrostal.

Ukrinterenergo involved more than 100 companies from Ukraine and CIS countries under this contract. Furthermore, the majority of equipment was manufactured in Ukraine. The main partner companies are: JSC Novokahovsky plant Ukrhydromekh, JSC Turboatom, JSC Zaporizhtransformator, JSC SPKTB Zaporizhhydrostal, JSC Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant, CJSC Zaporizhia Plant of Heavy Cranes, JSC Sumy Nasosenergomash Plant, JSC Poltava Turbomechanical Plant, JSC Donetsk Plant of High Voltage Towers, JSC Kharkiv Electromechanical Plant, JSC Silur, CJSC Lviv Insulator Plant.
Though 15 years have already passed since the date of hydropower unit commissioning, the equipment at the power plant is reliable in operation and what is more Thac Mo HPP was recognized as the most efficient in Vietnam, and high prestige of Ukrainian hydroelectric engineers in Vietnam has always been and remains at high level.
Successful work under Thac Mo HPP project gave impetus to the development of further cooperation.
It is noteworthy that the first hydropower unit was commissioned on the 6 th of January 1995, on the 20 th anniversary marking the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh operation, laid foundation to the liberation of Vietnam and the country’s reunion.
Ukrinterenergo congratulates all the companies which participated in construction of the power plant with the 15th anniversary of the 1st hydropower unit start-up on Thac Mo HPP and hopes for further effective cooperation.
Note: Thac Mo HPP (translated from Vietnamese as “Waterfall of Dreams”) is situated on the Beh river, the South of Vietnam (consisting of two hydropower units with the capacity 75 MW each).
